Hopscotch Revival

In October 2025, local artist Erik Hosino undertook a vibrant and exciting project to refresh the beloved hopscotch game located in Colonial Park. Hosino gave the traditional hopscotch design a much-needed makeover, infusing it with fresh paint that not only revitalized its appearance but also introduced an international flair that celebrated diversity and creativity.
The existing hopscotch layout had faded over the years due to weather conditions and heavy use by children in the community. Recognizing the importance of this playful activity in engaging young minds and promoting physical activity, Hosino envisioned a design that would not only attract children but also inspire them to learn about different cultures through play.

Erik generously painted the worn out but well loved hopscotch pro bono. To thank him, the Colonial Heights Neighborhood Association presented Hosino with a thank card and a gift card to Forgotten Bakery (a local favorite!). We also want to thank Victoria Vasquez, Comissioner with the City of Sacramento Parks and Community Enrichment Commission, for setting up this great update.
Thank you to all the hard work of the CHNA parks committee and all you do to make out park amazing.
Check out the hopscotch in action!
